Albina Avdyli

1060-title

My name is Albina Avdyli, I am 23 years old and I come from the city of Ferizaj. I completed my bachelor studies in physics at the University of Prishtina.

As a child, I had a strong desire to learn from others, even though I did not know it then. At the same time, I sought to understand and simplify things, which caused me to develop an interest in science, and more specifically, physics.

When I began my studies, I did not think that in the future, teaching would become my top priority. But, to be honest, I watched videos and lectures of foreign physics professors teaching and reflected on the lack of ever having such a teacher. From that moment on, I made a promise to myself: "You will give your best and will step out of your comfort zone whenever you appear in front of students."

I decided to challenge myself. I started an internship at an elementary school on a voluntary basis, where I saw firsthand how passionate I am about physics and teaching. For the first time I saw education from a different perspective.

The need for change, freedom of expression, fun, understanding, and equality that I encountered in students stayed with me even after the internship was over. I was motivated to make a small change for young people, especially for those who need it most. As a result, I decided to join the NGO "LAND" and formed a club of ‘Super-Volunteers.’

Since September of last year, I have been working as one of the ‘Super-Mentors’ of our club. The experiences we share every day contribute to our growth together with the students. We work on our leadership skills and have developed an understanding that each of us can make a difference.

The Teach For Kosova movement filled me with hope for the education of future generations. Being admitted into the program gave me the feeling of starting to realize a dream. Time will prove this to me and the other fellows, just as the saying goes: "The path can only appear if you begin to walk."
