About the project:
Teach For Kosova (TK) project aims to prepare 200 high school students to become proactive future civic activists, engaged voters and informed, motivated individuals who will play instrumental roles in shaping the future of their communities. It aims to develop youth’s critical thinking skills, civic awareness and deep understanding of the democratic process through workshops, simulation of election processes, public discussions with decision makers as well as initiatives where their gained knowledge can be applied in real contexts of their communities. Project will lay a foundation for a more informed and engaged future electorate which is crucial for a thriving democracy.
The creation and implementation of a comprehensive civic education curricula for non-formal education will enable students to gain knowledge on rights and responsibilities of citizens, government structures, electoral processes, in addition to constructive political debate principles. Project will amplify youth’s voices from different backgrounds, which with the support of schools and community, will be able to address their concerns to the decision makers. The project aims to cultivate a sense of civic responsibility and critical thinking to young people, transform them into eligible voters and future decision makers, through their early involvement in activism.
To achieve this, Teach For Kosova is looking for an Expert on Civic Activism, and democracy processes to prepare a comprehensive curricula for non-formal education on civic activism. The document shall cover a range of important topics to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to engage meaningfully in their communities. It will be youth friendly, easy to comprehend, attractive, fun and consisting of following topics but not limited to:
- Basics of Democratic Processes
- Foundations of Civic Engagement
- Local Government and Community Organizing
- Social Issues and Advocacy
- Media Literacy and Public Communication
- Collaborative Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution
Additionally, TK and Field Consultants will prepare Debate Coaching session’s materials for students which will improve their debate skills and gain knowledge on proposition and opposition sides, constructive speech, presenting arguments, validity of evidence, critical analysis and conclusions are just some of the principles that youth will be able to learn and know how and when to use them constructively.
The expert's engagement period is 4 days from August to November 2024.
